IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC)
Job Description
This IT Cybersecurity Specialist role is a Cyber Excepted Service (CES) position within the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), supporting the mission of US Cyber Command. It is a senior professional role in the CES Occupational Structure, based onsite at Fort Meade, MD, with a salary range of USD 143,913 to 187,093 per year.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the lifecycle of DCO-IDM policies from development through dissemination.
- Evaluates the impact of new IT policies on Cyberspace Operations and recommends modifications.
- Reviews Cyberspace Defence plans with a focus on critical infrastructure protection and threat assessment.
- Provides written analyses, briefings, and guidance on defensive measures.
- Participates in all phases of Cyber Defense planning to analyze and identify issues.
- Develops information technology studies and delivers authoritative recommendations for improvements and problem resolution.
- Leads and contributes to working groups and task forces coordinating DCO-IDM actions and projects.
- Shapes the approach to problem resolution to inform senior management decisions.
- Acts as a principal authority on the Defense Cyberspace team, advocating DoWIN positions.
- Serves as the primary DCDC point of contact with partner organizations and industry.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Position requires access to classified information and favorable suitability review with security clearance as a condition of employment; failure to maintain eligibility may lead to termination.
- Under the DoD 8140 policy, complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months andResidential Qualification requirements within 12 months.
- This is a Drug testing position.
- Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in one or more of these fields, with development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
- Attention to Detail in reviewing IT-related work and ensuring accuracy and standards compliance.
- Customer Service orientation, including understanding and addressing current and future IT needs.
- Oral Communication skills for briefing senior management and IT staff, including translating complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving ability to identify alternatives for unique or sensitive IT issues and evaluate potential solutions.
- Qualifying Experience: At GG-14, one year of experience developing IT policy, analyzing cyberspace threats, planning defensive cyber operations, or leading technical projects.
