Job Description
Join a mission-driven agency supporting US Cyber Command as a Senior IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) within the Cyber Excepted Service. This onsite role at Fort Meade, MD offers a competitive salary range of USD 143,913 to 187,093 per year and a pathway to contribute within the DISA EII/RISK MANAGEMENT DIRECTORATE. Telework may be available based on mission requirements and supervisory determination, with relocation costs and incentives potentially authorized where applicable.
As a Cyber Excepted Service professional, you will help secure cloud environments, provide risk analysis, and shape security policies for cloud offerings and related infrastructure. This position is designated as mission essential and requires on-site presence or relocation as determined by the agency.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate Cloud Service Offerings and validate assessments by Third-Party Assessment Organizations (3PAO) to ensure secure operations.
- Provide risk analysis reports to management for new and existing cloud systems and networks to identify inherent design risks and required countermeasures.
- Offer expert guidance on cloud computing security architecture, systems auditing, security tools, and all INFOSEC domains.
- Review and assess security products, procedures, and requirements to ensure compliance with DoD Information Assurance policies and that Cloud Service Offerings meet confidentiality and integrity requirements.
- Define mitigating controls and support documentation, testing, and acceptance of system design changes that might impact a commercial cloud’s security posture.
Requirements
- Attention to Detail: experience reviewing your own IT-related work or data and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: building and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products or services to meet those needs.
- Oral Communication: briefing senior-level management and IT staff on IT status, projects, or daily operations, including communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: identifying alternatives to address highly complex or sensitive IT issues; anticipating problems and identifying information sources to generate alternative solutions.
- Qualifying Experience: experience leading and conducting comprehensive IT cybersecurity assessments, validations, and risk analyses for cloud-based systems, including developing and implementing security policies, standards, and authorization recommendations.

Additional details
- This position is in the Cyber Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f and does not confer eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
- Three year probationary period may be required if not previously completed in the excepted or competitive service.
- Telework eligibility will be determined by mission requirements and supervisory decision.
- Medical testing for select positions may be required; moving costs and incentives may be authorized.
- Position designated as Mission Essential; incumbent may be required to report to duty location or relocate within the United States during emergencies.
