IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC)
Job Description
Senior IT cybersecurity specialist (network and information security) on site at Fort Meade, MD, supporting the US Cyber Command mission under the Cyber Excepted Service.
Responsibilities
- Offer expert guidance on information security policies, interpret requirements, and oversee implementation to maintain availability and integrity of enterprise systems.
- Develop project plans, assign and prioritize work for other network specialists, and supervise project execution.
- Research emerging technologies and evaluate commercial options to design prototype architectures for workstream initiatives.
- Apply WAN and LAN design concepts, utilize diagnostic tool sets and techniques, and enforce configuration management to resolve complex operational issues.
Requirements
- U.S. citizen is required.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- National security position; access to classified information may be required and a favorable suitability review and security clearance are conditions of employment. Loss of security eligibility may result in termination.
- Under the DoD 8140 policy, complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualifications within 12 months.
- Designated drug testing position.

- Attention to detail: experience reviewing your own IT work and supervising others to ensure accuracy and alignment with standards.
- Customer service: build and maintain relationships with customers, anticipate IT needs, and tailor IT products or services accordingly.
- Oral communication: brief senior management and IT staff on system status and projects, conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem solving: identify alternatives for complex IT issues and evaluate sources to generate viable solutions.
- Qualifying experience: in addition to basic requirements, must possess qualifying experience.
- At least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
- Experience guiding IT networking, policy interpretation and planning, or developing policy and strategy for multi-disciplinary networking services.
- Experience with emerging technologies, customer business processes, and resource requirements.
- Combination of education and experience is not applicable for this position.
