IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

Join DISA’s DISA-CLOUD ASSESSMENT DIVISION in Fort Meade, Maryland, supporting the mission of U.S. Cyber Command as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC). This permanent, full-time role is in the Cyber Excepted Service and provides a comprehensive federal benefits package, with eligibility based on your specific appointment type and work schedule.

This position is recruited under 10 USC 1599f and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. Work is located onsite in Fort Meade, with telework availability determined by mission requirements and supervisory decision. Occasional travel may be required, and moving costs may be paid in accordance with agency policy.

What you’ll do

• Evaluate cybersecurity assessment plans, procedures, and requirements.
• Conduct risk analysis reviews for new and existing cloud information systems and networks, identifying risks inherent in design and countermeasures installed or required.
• Produce a risk analysis report that documents residual risk areas and the root cause for vulnerabilities discovered.
• Provide technical reports to management showing the status of cloud-based systems under evaluation.
• Develop cloud architectures and risk management processes, including methods for assessing and mitigating risk, as well as policies, procedures, and implementation strategies used to evaluate cybersecurity risks in cloud service offerings.

Security and compliance requirements

This is a national security position that may require access to classified information. Employment depends on a favorable suitability review and the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

• Top Secret / SCI security clearance required.
• Drug testing position (urinalysis may be required prior to appointment or placement for drug testing designated positions at DISA).
• Covered under DoD Manual 8140; completion of Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall within 12 months is required in accordance with DoD 8140 policy series.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Resume must demonstrate IT-related experience showing each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
• To qualify at GG-13, the resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating competencies necessary for immediate success.
• Qualifying experience includes leading and conducting IT cybersecurity assessments, validations, and risk analyses for cloud-based systems, including developing and implementing security policies, standards, and authorization recommendations.
• Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or applicable selective placement factors in the resume body.
• All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of the announcement.
• There is no substitution of education for qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

Pay, schedule, and evaluation

• Salary: $131,841 to $171,396 per year
