IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Network/InfoSec)

The US Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is seeking an IT Cybersecurity Specialist focused on network and information security to support a classified support division. This onsite role involves managing network equipment and infrastructure supporting classified environments, providing technical oversight, and advising on information security practices to sustain the availability and integrity of enterprise systems and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Classified Support Division’s data center installation service node network equipment and infrastructure, including validating and approving requests for new equipment and cable installations.
• Provide technical oversight for internal project design and development activities to support integration and interoperability within the J6 enterprise; investigate trends and patterns in information technologies and computer systems development.
• Lead integrated teams to evaluate system implementation effectiveness, identify deficiencies, and advocate enhancements; recommend and oversee tests, equipment modifications, and user and maintainer training.
• Apply expert knowledge in database design, data management, and database administration, including organization of data assets, adherence to policies and standards, and support for data administration, modeling, and standardization.
• Provide expert technical guidance and implementation oversight for applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to maintain operational availability and integrity of enterprise applications and systems.
• Drive continuous improvement by reviewing work processes and recommending changes to improve the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of oversight and project management policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• This national security position may require access to classified information and therefore requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain eligibility may result in termination.
• In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the role requires completing Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements within 12 months overall.
• Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• This is a drug testing position.
• Attention to Detail experience reviewing information technology-related work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards, including reviewing others’ work.
• Customer Service experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing current IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services aligned to customer needs.
• Oral Communication experience briefing mid-level management and IT staff on system, project, or daily operations status, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Problem Solving experience identifying alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering and applying information from multiple sources.
• Experience planning and applying IT policies to support seamless multidisciplinary system integration, providing expert technical guidance and security oversight to support operational availability, and leveraging emerging technologies and architecture to align business processes with resource requirements.

• Salary: USD 115,475 - 171,396 per year

Additional Conditions and Administrative Information

• Excepted Service appointment: If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to the Competitive Service.
• Trial/probationary period: A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period. Accepting the position may require serving a three-year probationary period to evaluate fitness and whether continued employment advances the public interest.
• Telework: Telework availability is based on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
• Moving costs: Moving costs may be paid.
• Compensation notes: Salary range may include a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS). Salary plus Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) is authorized and may change without notice. Salary plus related reimbursements may be subject to taxation under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. The authorized rate of pay may exceed the stated maximum under certain circumstances.
