IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC)
Job Description
The IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC) supports the mission of the US Cyber Command within the Cyber Excepted Service. This senior professional role, placed in the CES Occupational Structure, is housed in DISA - OC/COMPUTING ECOSYSTEMS - SEL and is based onsite at Letterkenny Army Depot, Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver IT services by applying advanced IT principles to develop, interpret, and implement policies, procedures, and strategies across the agency.
- Employ project management practices and analytical methods to measure performance and track metrics that evaluate IT goals and objectives.
- Lead IT system development initiatives across design through sustainment using multiple IT disciplines, advising customers on new developments and advanced information management technologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff on IT management matters, typically spanning an entire organization or major components of it.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12-31-1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Position may require access to classified information; a favorable suitability review and security clearance are conditions of employment, with termination possible if eligibility is not maintained.
- This role falls under DoD Manual 8140 and may be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
- This is a drug testing designated position.
- Attention to detail in reviewing IT-related work for accuracy and consistency with standards.
- Customer service experience in assessing IT needs and tailoring products or services to meet those needs.
- Strong oral communication skills for briefing mid-level management and IT staff, including translating technical information for nontechnical audiences.
- Problem solving ability to identify alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering information from diverse sources.
- Experience planning and executing mission partner onboarding for IT service delivery.
- Experience providing technical support and guidance related to IT management issues.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and technologies.
- Experience in project management.

Additional Information
- The position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive service eligibility. It is advertised under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES).
- Current federal career employees will be placed in an Excepted appointment; no competitive conversion is guaranteed.
- A possible three year trial period may apply for those without prior excepted or competitive service experience.
- Telework options depend on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
- Selected candidates for drug testing designated positions will undergo urinalysis before appointment.
