IT Specialist (INFOSEC)
Job Description
The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) role within the Office of the Secretary, OCIO, OCRM in Washington, DC is focused on safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, networks, and data through established information security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement department wide information technology strategies.
- Define and oversee information technology and cybersecurity programs or projects.
- Lead, coordinate, communicate, integrate, and ensure the overall success of the program, aligning with enterprise priorities.
- Apply data, processes, organizational interactions, and technical expertise across systems, networks, and information exchange to manage programs.
- Consult with customers to evaluate functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and sustain cybersecurity plans, strategy, and policy to support organizational initiatives and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required to apply.
- TOP SECRET clearance is required; all investigations and clearances must be completed before placement.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation, which may include a credit check, review of financial matters, and checks for criminal offenses and illegal drug use.
- A probationary period may be required.

- If offered a conditional position, must complete Optional Form 306 and certify the accuracy of information provided.

EDUCATION
There is no formal education requirement for this position.
Special Instructions for Foreign Education: Qualifying education from institutions outside the United States must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. education. Applications educated abroad should provide evidence, including transcripts, to a recognized private organization for an equivalency evaluation and submit the evaluation letter.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED
Evaluation will be based on how well applicants meet the listed qualifications, with Direct-Hire Authority procedures affecting rating and veteran preference.
