Junior Cybersecurity Administrator

The Junior Cybersecurity Administrator role at T.M. Cobb Companies provides entry-level to intermediate cybersecurity administration and operational support for critical business systems supporting TM Cobb and Haley Bros. This onsite position focuses on hands-on assistance with security tooling, monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response support, and compliance efforts aligned to CIS v8 security controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide entry-level to intermediate cybersecurity administration and operational support for TM Cobb and Haley Bros’ critical business systems.
• Assist in the administration and daily operations of cybersecurity platforms, including Rapid7 (InsightVM, InsightIDR or equivalent), CrowdStrike Falcon (endpoint protection and EDR), Proofpoint Essentials (email security and threat protection), and Microsoft 365 Defender (endpoint, identity, and cloud security).
• Conduct routine vulnerability scans and support remediation tracking under senior guidance.
• Monitor security alerts, logs, and dashboards, and escalate potential threats or incidents appropriately.
• Assist with incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and documentation.
• Support implementation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and procedures aligned with the CIS v8 framework.
• Help manage endpoint security posture, including antivirus or EDR health, patching status, and compliance.
• Assist with email security administration, including phishing analysis, spam filtering, and user reporting.
• Maintain accurate documentation for security processes, incidents, and remediation activities.
• Participate in user security awareness efforts, including phishing simulations and support for training.
• Collaborate with IT teams to support secure configuration of systems and networks.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding workflows related to user access and identity security.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting activities as needed.
• Participate in IT and cybersecurity projects, including deployments, upgrades, and tool enhancements.

Required and Eligible Background

• CompTIA Security+ (required or within 12 months of hire).
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 0 to 2 years of IT or cybersecurity experience (internships and lab experience acceptable).
• Exposure to cybersecurity tools or platforms through academic or professional work.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles including CIA triad and least privilege, along with defense-in-depth.
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN concepts.
• Operating systems knowledge, with Windows preferred.
• Familiarity with endpoint protection tools (CrowdStrike or similar), vulnerability management tools (Rapid7 or similar), email security platforms (Proofpoint or similar), and the Microsoft 365 security ecosystem.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Willingness to learn and grow in the cybersecurity field.

Compensation

USD 30–45 per hour
