IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
Job Description
Public notice for anticipated vacancies for an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) role with the Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC); applications are not accepted through the flyer.
Responsibilities
- Serve as IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in CYBER SECURITY (N00CS) within the Executive Department, Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC).
- Administer the Command Cyber Workforce (CWF) Program to support professional development and qualification of personnel performing cybersecurity responsibilities.
- Ensure the Command follows Cyber IT/CWF tracking, training, qualification, and reporting responsibilities.
- Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure existing qualification standards reflect organizational functional requirements and align with industry standards.
- Implement and manage local manpower, personnel, and qualification data element standards to support command-level CWF management and reporting.
- Assist the Command Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in implementing and sustaining the Information Systems Security Program.
- Monitor and scan network resources using approved DoD scanning and security tools to ensure network use aligns with applicable DoD and DON directives.
- Interpret network infrastructure scan results; conduct reviews and assessments to identify vulnerabilities, confirm compliance, and recommend correction actions through supervisor reports.
Requirements

- Cyberspace Workforce position: work role code 751/461, proficiency level ADVCANCED/INTERMEDIATE; obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; tentative offer will be rescinded for failure to report or fail the test. Subject to random testing.
- Mission Essential position: ensure continuity of operations and/or completion of essential mission tasks designated by local or command decision.
- Must successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
- IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
- Experience using manpower and personnel IT systems.
- Experience applying and reviewing organizational policies related to or influencing the cyber workforce.
- Experience verifying security tests and ensuring they are conducted and documented.
- Experience applying risk management principles to analyze threats and vulnerabilities and recommend countermeasures.

Qualifications
- Directly applicable experience is required to demonstrate knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies for immediate success.
- Attention to Detail: develop cyberspace workforce plans, strategies, and guidance supporting cyberspace workforce training and education requirements.
- Customer Service: work with managers and employees to establish Individual Development Plans (IDP’s) detailing cybersecurity training and qualifications for compliance.
- Oral Communication: coordinate with higher echelon regarding military and civilian personnel training system program management of proper Cyber IT/CWF processes and systems.
- Problem Solving: ensure system modifications do not adversely impact system security and that contingency plans are developed and tested.
