Job Description

Based in Suffolk, Virginia, this onsite cybersecurity role supports the U.S. Fleet Forces Command in protecting Navy information systems. The IT Cybersecurity Specialist (InfoSec) serves as the cybersecurity Authorizing Official for Navy collateral networks and GENSER TS and below, applying the DoD RMF and coordinating cross‑service AO support to maintain policy compliance within the Navy environment. The position offers a salary range of USD 115,475 to 157,818 per year and requires no formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as an IT cybersecurity Specialist (InfoSec) within PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (NAO4), NAVY AUTHORIZING OFFICIAL DIRECTORATE, OFFICE OF THE COMMANDER at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command to perform AO duties.
  • Apply technical and analytical expertise to execute authority as the AO for all Navy collateral and GENSER TS and below networks and systems not under a Navy Functional AO.
  • Leverage advanced knowledge of Navy IT system design and operations with proven skill in applying risk management processes, specifically the DoD RMF.
  • Support reciprocal authorization reviews to deploy other Services’ systems in the Navy environment and coordinate cross‑Service AO to AO support agreements and MOUs.
  • Oversee work in progress and provide technical and functional guidance to ensure consistent implementation of federal regulations and DoD, Navy, and NAO policies governing the DoD RMF.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
  • Appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement is subject to 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty; failure to obtain or maintain may result in withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 611, ADVANCED proficiency; incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; a failed test or failure to appear will result in withdrawal of a tentative offer. Random testing may apply.
  • This position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites; ability to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods is required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
