Job Description

The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC seeks an IT Cybersecurity Specialist to serve as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO), reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, responsible for maintaining a secure operating environment and continuous monitoring of IT assets and processes onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Gallery's catalog of enterprise and departmental IT systems, including points of contact, vendor contacts, tier level, location, and system type (cloud, on‑prem, hybrid, colocation, etc.).
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and security posture for potential new IT systems, applications, or services and provide risk guidance for the Gallery.
  • Collaborate with the CISO, CIO, system managers, and stakeholders to finalize IT security requirements for third‑party IT systems, applications, or services.
  • Ensure vendors, contractors, and providers comply with Gallery IT security policies and procedures as part of the third‑party risk management program.
  • Coordinate with the Contracts and Procurement Office to ensure IT security requirements are incorporated into applicable agreements.
  • Review results of internal or third‑party vulnerability scans for third‑party applications, systems, or devices and work with relevant managers to remediate critical and high vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in triage of potential security incidents related to third‑party breaches, following the established IT security incident response process and aiding remediation efforts.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The employer participates in the e‑Verify program.

  • Successful completion of a Pre‑employment Background Investigation.
  • Found to be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to complete a probationary period.
  • Specialized experience for GS‑7 (or equivalent) and above: one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
