Technology/Cybersecurity Specialist

This entry-level role supports the district’s physical and cybersecurity technology stack onsite in St. Louis, MO.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration and maintenance of video surveillance servers and related infrastructure
• Learn to administer and maintain the district electronic access control system, including configuration, user access, and day-to-day operation
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of integrations between video surveillance, electronic access control, and other district security systems
• Help troubleshoot, test, and maintain crisis alert and incident response systems
• Troubleshoot physical security hardware and software, including servers, network connectivity, and system integrations
• Collaborate with Technology, Facilities, administrators, and district safety personnel to support reliable physical security operations
• Assist with reviewing reported phishing emails, suspicious messages, and other potential cybersecurity threats as needed
• Document and continually improve security practices and protocols
• Assist with maintaining compliance with data privacy laws and regulations to help protect student and staff data confidentiality
• Support security awareness training delivery, including phishing detection, password safety, data sharing, and other cybersecurity best practices
• Collaborate with the incident response team to investigate, respond to, and help mitigate cybersecurity incidents and potential threats
• Assist with researching and implementing compliant software solutions and data governance processes
• Build knowledge of cybersecurity trends, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats through training, professional development, and trusted cybersecurity resources

Requirements

• Working knowledge of computers, operating systems, software, and common technology concepts
• Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, or other technology-related issues
• Strong interest in learning cybersecurity, data privacy, and physical security technology
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and technical concepts
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate issues and work toward solutions
• Ability to follow technical procedures and accurately document work
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and learn from experienced Technology Department staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when working with sensitive information and security systems
• Commitment to continued learning and professional growth
• Education, coursework, technical training, certifications, or experience related to IT, computer systems, networking, cybersecurity, or a related field
• Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, data privacy, networking, servers, or physical security technology
