Job Description

The Senior Security Architect will guide security architecture across complex multi‑cloud and partner environments, delivering architecture reviews, reference architectures, threat modeling, and advisory services to ensure alignment with standards, policies, and global regulations.

Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of a world class cybersecurity program
- Develop reference architectures to address common requirements and mitigate security findings through repeatable best practices
- Lead threat modeling and collaborate with delivery teams to embed security requirements into solutions
- Conduct security architecture reviews of platforms and applications in complex multi-tenant, multi-provider, and vendor-cloud environments
- Provide consultative guidance to technical teams during solution design
- Inspire and influence others to achieve results by partnering with engineering and delivery teams on strategic platform initiatives
- Proactively manage architecture review oversight and address critical issues that introduce risk
- Ensure high quality, timely deliverables by documenting assessments and maintaining technical proficiency and relevant certifications for core products and solution areas
- Collaborate with a dynamic team while aligning with Starbucks guiding principles and values
Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years in cybersecurity related work
- Preferred: 3+ years in cybersecurity with a total minimum of 7 years in information technology or related field
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO, CSA), policies, design principles, practices, and enabling tools
- Formal risk assessment documentation experience
- Experience with threat modeling
- Public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) plus serverless and containerized environments
- Expertise in encryption, authentication/authorization, API security, and secrets management
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and related supporting technologies
- Knowledge of general security threats, attack vectors, and vulnerabilities; SME in threat modeling
- Familiarity with architecture tools, patterns, serverless ecosystems, and pipeline security
- Strong critical and logical thinking to prioritize work for maximum security impact
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships with business and technology partners
- Proven success in dynamic, fast-paced environments with minimal supervision and in both independent and collaborative settings
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CIPM or equivalents focused on information security, data privacy, or information risk management are desirable
