Senior Associate Security Engineer
Job Description
Join a team focused on delivering advanced cybersecurity capabilities across the software development lifecycle. This role supports secure-by-design governance through hands-on engineering work, from threat modeling and security testing to monitoring and incident response. Based in Charlotte, NC, this onsite position is a full-time, regular 1st shift opportunity for experienced security engineers who want to help protect critical assets and improve how systems are built and operated.
What you’ll do
- Implement cybersecurity solutions to protect critical assets in the job area, contributing to design and configuration decisions while following established strategies, patterns, and guidance.
- Perform threat modeling, security testing, and penetration testing for assigned platforms and services to identify and remediate vulnerabilities using defined methods.
- Integrate and configure information security technologies across test and production environments, applying approved configuration patterns, automation, and handoff steps for assigned systems.
- Investigate security issues escalated within the team, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement practical fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Review relevant security threats, tools, and design options, providing input that supports technical plans and priorities for the job area.
- Partner with product and engineering teammates to apply security guidelines, secure-by-design practices, and governance controls in day-to-day development and delivery activities.
- Maintain security baselines, guardrails, and control configurations for systems and applications to support regulatory and policy compliance.
- Execute incident response and basic forensic activities for assigned services using established playbooks and approved tooling, and suggest targeted improvements based on hands-on experience.
- Share knowledge and best practices through informal guidance and support during code reviews, design discussions, and pairing sessions.
- Plan and manage your own work to meet objectives and milestones, seeking feedback, pursuing self-development, and refining approaches over time.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in security engineering or related cybersecurity roles.
- Developing knowledge of cybersecurity principles, theories, and concepts.
- Experience applying security practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency implementing and managing information security technologies.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with security automation, orchestration, and advanced threat detection tools.
- Familiarity with emerging cybersecurity technologies, industry trends, and strategic risk management.
