Operational Technology Security Engineer

The Operational Technology Security Cyber Prevention Engineer supports the protection of Honda’s manufacturing operational technology environment by creating and maintaining procedures, standards, and controls designed to help prevent cyber incidents. This onsite role in Marysville, OH spans manufacturing equipment hardware, firmware, and software, as well as OT enterprise systems, with an emphasis on data analysis, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration across HDMA locations.

In this position, you will help bring new equipment into the Operational Technology network, strengthen access control both physically and logically, and support the ongoing development and auditing of OT policies and technical standards. You will also establish OT risk metrics and assessments, and use industry benchmarking to recommend improvements to internal tools and practices.

Responsibilities

• New equipment introduction: define Operational Technology standards for new equipment, integrate it into the Operational Technology network, confirm vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, and maintain visibility of equipment within the asset management system.
• Training: support the creation, administration, and maintenance of Operational Technology specific training materials.
• Policies, procedures, and auditing: create, issue, maintain, and audit Operational Technology specific policies and procedures.
• Access control (physical and logical): set and implement technical standards for equipment-level physical access and for access to Operational Technology related systems and equipment.
• Operational Technology standard creation: support the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical standards for OT equipment and networks.
• Risk metric management and assessments: establish company Operational Technology risk metrics and assessments, perform risk assessments, and establish tools for visibility and reporting.
• Sensing and industry benchmarking: research OT security industry benchmarks and generate recommendations to adjust internal tools or practices to stay aligned with current expectations.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Networking, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience: 0-2 years of experience with machine control networks / industrial control systems (ICS); basic understanding of communication networks and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Knowledge: knowledge of industrial cybersecurity.
• Communication: strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with customers and internal project teams.
• Business acumen: business acumen in a technical environment.
