Job Description
Covenant Health seeks a Manager of Cybersecurity, IT Cybersecurity to lead security operations, strategy, and governance from an onsite role in Knoxville, TN.
Responsibilities
- Direct and align all cybersecurity personnel, including security analysts, incident responders, and compliance specialists.
- Act as a change agent to modernize team culture, processes, and technologies across the cybersecurity function.
- Oversee the cybersecurity management team to ensure performance management, career development, technical leadership, appropriate delegation, and leadership development opportunities.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to set and achieve departmental development goals.
- Champion ongoing development by pursuing innovative approaches to recruit, develop, and retain cybersecurity talent.
- Manage day to day cybersecurity operations, including monitoring, detection, and incident response.
- Lead the incident response team in handling security breaches and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations and standards.
- Direct technical implementation projects related to cybersecurity, developing plans and strategies to meet organizational needs.
- Drive continuous improvement by staying informed about emerging technologies and industry trends and recommending enhancements.
- Develop and maintain strategic cybersecurity roadmaps with actionable plans and optimized project and resource planning.
- Plan resources proactively based on anticipated demand.
- Define deliverables and milestones for solution delivery in partnership with business leaders and senior executives.
- Lead the development of cybersecurity strategies and the technical roadmap aligned with IT and organizational goals.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring contracts and performance align with organizational standards.
- Develop annual operating budgets and long term capital budgets for cybersecurity initiatives.
- Monitor network and system performance to ensure availability, reliability, and capacity planning.
- Oversee service management and performance of technology subcontractors.
- Collaborate with other IT and clinical IT teams to ensure integrated cybersecurity services across the health system.
- Build relationships with key business leaders to identify service gaps and propose solutions; maintain credibility with hospital and corporate leadership, including Legal, HR, and Privacy/Compliance.
- Design and implement security awareness and training programs for employees to promote adherence to policies and procedures.
- Oversee risk management for third party vendors, partners, and biomedical devices.
- Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Lead secure network architecture and system design to protect sensitive data and maintain IT infrastructure integrity.
- Oversee incident management and forensic investigations to identify root causes and mitigate risks to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare cybersecurity requirements.
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for rapid incident recovery.
- Local travel is required for the role.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- No strict degree requirement; candidates may demonstrate qualifications through a combination of formal education and relevant experience.
- Typically equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree; preference for degrees in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in cybersecurity within an enterprise sized IT organization.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license and state mandated minimum insurance coverage; driving record must meet Covenant Health standards at hire and throughout employment.
