IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC)

As an IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC) supporting US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA, you will help ensure reliable IT services for mission-focused healthcare operations in Quantico, VA. This onsite role focuses on troubleshooting complex information technology issues, supporting communications and office automation, and contributing to information assurance and compliance.

The position is an IT Specialist role within the DoD Cyber Workforce, supporting the 2210 Information Technology Management job series. The work is full-time under a competitive federal service appointment, with a GS 12 pay scale and a salary range of $102,415 to $133,142 per year (including applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement).

Key Responsibilities

• Use enterprise management software and formal IT problem management methods to track, diagnose, and resolve complex IT issues, ensuring consistent service delivery and documenting outcomes.
• Identify information system problems through review of recurring and special reports, collaboration with users and other personnel, and attendance at meetings.
• Contribute to resolution approaches using automation, and independently perform required steps to achieve satisfactory results.
• Provide interpretation, guidance, and troubleshooting assistance for communications and office automation.
• Support strategic planning efforts, including development, preparation, and maintenance tasks related to implementing new operating applications.
• Act as a point of contact between the MTF Activity and vendors to receive technical bulletins, documentation, and system updates.
• Identify staff developmental and training needs, and provide or arrange development and training.
• Consult with specialists on training, certification, and professional development aligned to Department of Defense (DoD) 8570/8140 requirement needs, and address training problems relevant to the organization.
• Ensure systems remain updated with the latest fixes.

Required Qualifications and Eligibility

• Obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment; a background investigation and credit check are required.
• Meet foundational qualification requirements in DoD 8140.03. Legacy DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certifications remain acceptable to satisfy the foundational training/certification requirement.
• Position is designated as part of the DoD Cyber Workforce in accordance with DoDM 8140.03.

• Basic requirement for IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC): one year of specialized experience including developing policies and procedures, diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues, and maintaining information assurance compliance.
• Specialized experience must demonstrate each of four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
• Qualification must be met using experience alone; education substitution is not permitted.

Additional Conditions of Employment

• Mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements; subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation required upon hire).
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for positions with direct patient contact; other immunizations may be required depending on position type.
• Tuberculosis testing is required.
