Job Description

Join a mission-driven team within the Navy's Insider Threat Program. This onsite, nationwide role in Maryland offers a competitive salary range and the chance to influence security for Navy networks and personnel. You will operate within the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) framework, with potential for recruitment incentives, and the opportunity to engage in inter-agency collaboration and technical exchanges.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate User Activity Monitoring (UAM) systems, review audit data, and monitor alerts to identify unusual or suspicious behavior that could indicate security violations or threats to Navy networks and personnel.
  • Analyze collected audit data to monitor, detect, and mitigate cyber and insider threats, delivering feedback to strengthen defenses.
  • Perform cross-disciplinary activities designed to counter threats posed by Navy personnel with authorized access to information systems.
  • Represent the Navy Insider Threat Program on working groups, inter-agency forums, conferences, and technical exchanges.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • New Navy employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI); indicate the level and date on your resume
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana); a tentative offer may be rescinded for failure to report or pass; random testing is required
  • Must acknowledge in writing acceptance of an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) that does not confer competitive status
  • Within the DoD, retirement-eligible military personnel who were retired within 180 days prior to civilian appointment are subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326
  • Male applicants born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination
  • This position may require a 2-Year DCIPS trial period
