Benefits

  • Two-year apprenticeship program for CCBC students in cybersecurity support.
  • Entry level cybersecurity support role with three-month MDOT HQ training before placement.
  • Placement in MDOT modal administrations after training.
  • Salary range of USD 62,220 to 96,790 per year.
  • On-site role based in Hanover, MD with potential placement across MDOT security operations centers in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County.
  • Supports completion of the apprenticeship through CCBC coursework and on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing security policies and protocols and help enforce compliance with network security policies and protocols.
  • Maintain and manage firewalls, including hardware and software, that enable information sharing and transmission.
  • Monitor the cybersecurity product suite to defend against malware, data leaks, phishing, spam, and endpoint vulnerabilities.
  • Assess and mitigate system network, business continuity, and related security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Review network utilization data to identify unusual patterns, suspicious activity, or signs of potential threats.
  • Gain insight into data privacy requirements and enforcement, including data loss prevention and applicable regulatory requirements for MDOT data.

Requirements

  • Declared major in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field.
  • Cannot have completed more than 50 percent of the 362 apprenticeship-related instruction hours.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Security operations centers are located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to perform job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Course prerequisites: DCOM 101 Introduction to Data Communications; DCOM 217 CCNA I Introduction to Networks; CSIT 111 Fundamentals of Logic and Design.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at CCBC.

None required.

Notes

  • Candidates may be evaluated for DCOM 101 and CSIT 111 competencies.
  • Candidates may be evaluated with a CISCO Academy check for DCOM 217 competencies.
  • CCBC evaluates prior experience and training to determine eligibility for advanced credit.
