Job Description

Within the Senate's security framework, the Cybersecurity Senior Specialist provides senior-level cybersecurity support, leads unit projects, and coordinates with internal staff, divisions, and external vendors. Reporting to the Senate Sergeant at Arms, this role drives analysis, policy development, and cross-team collaboration to address complex security challenges while guiding project teams to successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional and/or technical support for the assigned cybersecurity unit.
  • Assist in preparing materials for collaboration with other sections, divisions, departments, and vendors to gather and disseminate information.
  • Contribute to analysis and materials for expert-level cybersecurity support to SAA IT security branch staff, other SAA technical staff, SAA procurement staff, and other divisions or departments, and help identify and resolve critical and complex issues.
  • Provide leadership to the unit’s project teams and contractors as directed.
  • Help develop plans, assignments, and coordinate work efforts.
  • Assist in developing governing policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible cybersecurity experience, including leadership roles in project teams or units.
  • Subject matter expertise in a cybersecurity domain.
  • Proven ability to address critical and complex cybersecurity challenges, provide expert-level support, and coordinate cross-team and vendor efforts.
  • Experience in developing and enforcing cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Potential for a skills assessment as part of the hiring process.

Security Clearance

  • This position requires obtaining and maintaining a Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
