Cybersecurity Engineer

Join the Community College of Baltimore County as a Cybersecurity Engineer in Catonsville, MD (onsite). This role supports the College’s computing and network infrastructure through administrative and technical security work, with opportunities to plan improvements, respond to incidents, and help the campus community strengthen security practices.

Compensation: USD 71,029 - 117,400 per year. Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate’s education level and/or years of experience, and employees are generally hired in the lower third of the scale.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement additions, deletions, and major modifications to the College’s information security infrastructure.
• Run vulnerability scans of College systems, review vulnerability scan reports, and support timely remediation with appropriate stakeholders.
• Conduct security risk assessments and assist with remediation activities.
• Investigate and respond to security anomalies identified through security log reviews or reported by College stakeholders.
• Support the development and enforcement of College-wide information security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform security analysis that protects institutional business processes while meeting faculty, student, and administrative needs.
• Assist the College community in identifying and remediating security policy violations.
• Perform periodic risk assessments of data systems and business processes, identify vulnerabilities, determine acceptable levels of risk, and recommend ways to reduce risk.
• Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and coordinate incident resolution and training with end users.
• Install, configure, and maintain Access Control Lists (ACLs), firewalls, and security appliances to protect institutional data.
• Review, test, and recommend security enhancements to protect and monitor business processes both on premise and in cloud-hosted solutions.
• Communicate with and provide training for the College community on current network and information security processes and procedures.
• Assist with implementing security measures to protect College computer systems, networks, and data.
• Provide technical support for the College’s academic cybersecurity program.

Requirements

• Associates degree in cybersecurity with a minimum of one-year experience in cybersecurity or information technology, or a Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity.
• Experience securing operating systems, networks, and various applications at an enterprise level.
• Cybersecurity certifications preferred.
