Job Description

Allegion is partnering with the TechPoint Indiana Adult Apprenticeship Program to offer a Cybersecurity Associate Apprentice position in Carmel, IN with a hybrid work model. This apprenticeship is designed to develop real-world security skills through rotations across Security Operations, Security Architecture, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance, with daily support from senior team members.

Throughout the program, the apprentice will help handle operational security work, learn incident response fundamentals, and gain hands-on experience with security tools while assisting with vulnerability scanning and documentation that supports compliance goals.

What you will do

  • Assist with the daily triage of SPAM reports, user requests, and security alerts under the guidance of senior analysts.
  • Shadow senior team members during security incidents to learn the Incident Response lifecycle and assist with basic vulnerability scans.
  • Support deployment, basic configuration, and troubleshooting of security software such as endpoint detection tools, password managers, and SASE.
  • Help write, review, and update cybersecurity process documentation, including finding and remediation documentation and program materials.
  • Gather evidence and supporting documentation to assist with compliance goals related to PCI-DSS, SOX, ISO, HIPAA, ITIL, and NIST.
  • Complete some weekend and evening assignments, and be available during off-hours to participate in scheduled and unscheduled activities.
  • Maintain professionalism when working with sensitive or confidential IT security matters.

  • Ability to meet TechPoint Indiana Adult Apprenticeship program eligibility requirements.
  • High integrity, strong curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and genuine interest in technology and cybersecurity.
  • Learning agility and the ability to grasp business and technical concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication, and comfort asking questions while learning new topics.
  • Organizational skills to work independently, plan workloads, and deliver on commitments.
  • Foundational knowledge of basic IT concepts (networks, operating systems, hardware) through self-study, bootcamps, or certifications such as CompTIA A+, IT Fundamentals, or Security+ (preferred).
  • Technical aptitude to translate technical concepts into practical business language (preferred).

Skills and tools you will work with

  • SPAM, endpoint detection, password managers, and SASE
  • Compliance frameworks and standards including PCI-DSS, SOX, ISO, HIPAA, ITIL, and NIST
  • CompTIA A+, IT Fundamentals, and Security+

  • Hybrid details may vary based on the needs of the individual, team, and business, and your talent acquisition partner will share specifics.
  • The hybrid schedule is currently set and there are no current plans to change it, though Allegion reserves the right to adjust as needed.
