Cybersecurity Analyst
Job Description
Valence Surface Technologies, LLC is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to support day-to-day security operations and help maintain compliance and audit readiness. This onsite role in Lynwood, CA supports monitoring, incident response assistance, endpoint and access security tool administration, and user-focused security awareness.
You will contribute to both operational security and regulated-defense cybersecurity requirements, including documentation and support for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and escalate issues to senior team members when needed.
- Assist with phishing response and support security awareness activities, including end-user guidance on secure practices.
- Support incident triage, evidence collection, documentation, and post-incident follow-up under the guidance of senior cybersecurity personnel.
- Help administer and support endpoint security tools, including multi-factor authentication, VPN access, email security, and other foundational security controls.
- Contribute to compliance and audit-readiness efforts tied to CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, ITAR, and the protection of CUI.
- Maintain accurate documentation, support security projects, and collaborate across teams to strengthen the organization’s security posture.
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 2+ years in cybersecurity, systems administration, network administration, IT support, or a related technical role.
- Basic understanding of security tools, user access administration, endpoint protection, log review, or vulnerability remediation concepts.
- Willingness and ability to learn defense and aerospace cybersecurity requirements, including CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, ITAR, and CUI handling practices.

Knowledge, skills, and experience
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, common threats, security controls, and incident response concepts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows environments, endpoint protection, and general enterprise IT operations.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly, document work accurately, and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Interest in learning security operations and compliance requirements in a regulated defense or aerospace environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and good judgment.
Preferred qualifications and certifications
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 is a plus.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, defense, or other regulated environment is preferred.
- Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+ and ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC); Microsoft Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200) may be beneficial for candidates with relevant experience.
Location: Lynwood, CA (onsite). Also listed within the Los Angeles CA and Orange County CA areas.
Salary: USD 72,000 - 88,000 per year.
