Channel Development Executive
Job Description
DOT Security is seeking a Channel & Business Development Executive to support new business growth in the upper SMB market. The role blends direct sales prospecting with channel partner development, including pipeline creation, proposal development, and coordination across internal teams to move deals forward.
Location and Schedule
- Onsite: Lake Forest, IL
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 80,000 - 95,000 per year
- Incentives: DOT Security may offer applicable incentive compensation plans depending on role and/or department.
Actual compensation packages are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including skillset, experience and training, licensures and/or certifications, and other organizational needs. Full compensation details are reviewed with an Impact Talent Acquisition team member at the start of the interview process.
Core Responsibilities
- Prospect and qualify new business opportunities in the upper SMB market for direct sales
- Build, manage, and advance a pipeline of direct and partner-sourced opportunities
- Identify, recruit, and onboard new channel partners, including MSPs, VARs, brokers, and other referral sources
- Cultivate and grow relationships with existing channel partners to drive recurring referral volume
- Develop accurate, well-scoped quotes for prospects and partners
- Prepare and present proposals to prospects, clients, and partner stakeholders
- Coordinate with sales engineering, service delivery, and marketing to support deal progression
- Track and manage opportunities and partner activity in the PSA/CRM system
- Represent DOT Security at partner and industry events while traveling
- Complete work based on priority, follow through as promised, and set expectations
- Contribute to and perform both new and pre-existing plans, instructions, and procedures
- Demonstrate active listening and critical thinking skills, and comprehend received information
- Interpret and understand complex and evolving concepts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Maintain awareness of technology advancements and their cybersecurity implications
- Understand and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven experience selling cybersecurity, managed IT, or related technical services
- Collaborative approach when working across internal teams and external partners
- Strong relationship-building skills with both prospects and channel partners
- Sales-focused mindset with experience managing a pipeline from prospecting through close
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent deals, quotes, and partner relationships
- Comfort independently running a deal from first contact to signed agreement
- Working knowledge of core cybersecurity concepts and terminology (XDR/EDR, MDR, vulnerability management, compliance frameworks) sufficient to represent DOT’s service portfolio
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability when data is incomplete or when no precedent exists
- Clear, professional, and concise communication using technology, tools, and workspaces
- Critical thinking and customer service skills, with a passion for cybersecurity
- Ability to document and communicate complex technical concepts, incidents, problems, and events
- Knowledge of IT assets (applications/data/devices/networks/users) and related security concepts such as monitoring and hardening
- Preparation and delivery of reports, plans, and briefings using presentation technology
