Assistant Professor of Computer IT - Cybersecurity
Job Description
Full-time Assistant Professor role supporting the Cybersecurity concentration through teaching, curriculum work, assessment, and industry-facing engagement.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to 15 contact hours each semester (typically 3–4 courses); no summer teaching expected unless opting in for additional pay
- Maintain at least three regular office hours each week
- Participate in departmental curriculum development, review, and updates to keep courses current and effective, with a focus on job-ready skills
- Support student learning outcome assessment and retention initiatives, including data collection, analysis, curriculum adjustments, and goal setting
- Maintain active industry connections through the Business Advisory Council and/or other collaborations that support student learning and career placement; stay current via professional development
- Fulfill timely requests from the Department Chair and administration, including keeping appointments, attending meetings, starting classes on time, and teaching for the full scheduled period
- Evaluate student achievement and provide timely feedback, including weekly updates in Canvas; keep accurate student records
- Provide adequate academic support and maintain respectful, professional rapport
- Demonstrate effective teaching based on formal Chair evaluations, including preparation, course goals, organization, presentation, student engagement, and classroom management
- Adapt to departmental needs, collaborate with colleagues, and maintain a professional demeanor
- Participate in college and departmental communications, including use of the early alert system
- Contribute to the college community through committee work, meetings, and events
- Collaborate with Academic Departments, Student Affairs, Career and Co-op Services, Enrollment, and Development
- Maintain a culture of accountability and innovation; follow College policies and procedures in the College Catalog, Employee Handbook, Faculty Addendum, and Student Handbook
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Chair to meet departmental needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- At least 3 years professional experience in higher education or the IT industry
- Expertise in cybersecurity
- Ability to teach most or all of: digital forensics, intrusion detection and prevention, security automation systems, cybersecurity and risk management
- Security+ certification (or ability to obtain before employment starts)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Collaborative and inclusive approach
- Ability to teach in person at the Roxbury campus

Position Overview
- Launched in Fall 2023, the Cybersecurity concentration within Computer IT offers students an associate’s degree foundation in networking and cloud computing
- College received a $1 million Google grant for a hands-on cybersecurity clinic, operated in partnership with the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts
- $350K National Science Foundation grant supports curriculum development and free certification tests for students
- $100K Mass Tech Collaborative grant supports paid internships with Massachusetts municipal governments
- Position begins September 1, 2026
Location and Salary
- Location: Boston, MA (onsite)
- Salary: USD 60,000–81,000 per year
