Adjunct Faculty - Electrical and Computer Engineering - Cybersecurity Capstone Coach

Brigham Young University seeks an Adjunct Faculty coach to mentor a cybersecurity capstone team and support capstone design education onsite in Provo, UT.

Responsibilities

• Work with an assigned student team of 5–7 members to help students learn the capstone design process and successfully complete the assigned project.
• Guide the team in choosing and applying an appropriate project structure, workflow, and design process based on project nature, technical requirements, deliverables, timeline, and sponsor expectations.
• Learn and share Capstone policies with the student team.
• Coach and mentor students throughout the capstone lifecycle.
• Attend Capstone lectures, weekly team meetings, and Capstone faculty coach meetings.
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the project sponsor.
• Help teams maintain realistic scope, timelines, and deliverables throughout the project.
• Support students in understanding how general course requirements apply to their specific project.
• Assist students in building professional soft skills and collaborating effectively as a team.
• Spend an average of 3 hours per week between 8–10 am M–F coaching engineering students.
• Support the mission of Brigham Young University and align coaching with BYU policies.

Requirements

• BS degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or a related field (required).
• MS degree preferred.
• The required degree must be completed by the start date.
• Demonstrated success within career.
• Interest and passion for the design education process are required.
• In the cover letter, include an experience teaching young students how to design and work in teams on a project.
• Attach an updated curriculum vitae, cover letter, and Mission Alignment Statement as instructed in the application.
