Job Description

Impulse Space is building and supporting space missions and the business operations behind them. In this onsite Cybersecurity Analyst role in Redondo Beach, CA, you will help protect the systems, networks, data, and infrastructure that support mission-critical work, while strengthening day-to-day security operations.

Responsibilities

Monitor security alerts, logs, and systems for potential threats, and assist with investigation and response
Support vulnerability management, security assessments, endpoint security, and network security activities
Maintain security policies, procedures, documentation, and support compliance requirements
Identify, document, and help remediate vulnerabilities across enterprise systems and infrastructure
Support user access management, security awareness, and other security operations
Collaborate with IT, engineering, and other teams to implement and maintain effective security controls
Participate in incident response, risk assessments, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, and common security controls
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high standard of attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Tools and frameworks

You will work with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, and identity and access management, along with security frameworks including NIST and CIS. Scripting and automation may include Python and PowerShell.

The role also references Security+ and CySA+, and it requires awareness of export-regulated work under ITAR and EAR.

Preferred skills and experience

Internship, academic, lab, or hands-on experience in cybersecurity, IT, networking, or security operations
Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, identity and access management, or other security tools
Experience with security frameworks such as NIST or CIS
Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or equivalent
Familiarity with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools
Experience supporting compliance or security requirements in a regulated or government environment

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay are set case-by-case and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Job Description

Impulse Space seeks a Cloud Security Engineer based in Redondo Beach, CA (onsite) to secure and harden multi-cloud infrastructure across Azure Government, AWS, and GCP, ensuring CMMC/NIST SP 800-171 compliance while embedding security into engineering workflows in the aerospace and defense space.

Responsibilities

Harden and secure cloud resources spanning Azure, AWS, and GCP.
Perform security assessments, threat modeling, and internal audits of cloud infrastructure.
Continuously monitor and enhance cloud security posture with Defender for Cloud and CSPM tools.
Design and enforce IAM controls including RBAC, least-privilege access, and conditional access policies.
Embed security checks within the CI/CD pipelines as part of DevSecOps.
Develop and manage secure infrastructure with Terraform.
Automate security workflows through scripting and infrastructure as code.
Support CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 initiatives, implementing controls and gathering evidence.
Assist in logging, monitoring, and detection integration using SIEM/XDR.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remediate security issues and strengthen overall posture.

Requirements

At least 4 years of hands-on experience in cloud, security, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
Hands-on experience with one or more cloud platforms, with a preference for Azure.
Proficiency with Terraform or comparable infrastructure as code tools.
Knowledge of securing CI/CD pipelines.
Strong grasp of IAM, secrets management, and security best practices.
Working knowledge of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or related frameworks.
