Job Description

The FBI is seeking a Special Agent with cybersecurity and technology expertise to plan and conduct investigations into potential federal law violations connected to cybersecurity and public safety. Based in Buffalo, NY, this onsite role supports investigative work that requires coordination across law enforcement partners while addressing national security threats.

This is a full-time position (with pay ranging from USD 103,326 to 133,200 per year) and is designated as exempted from the federal civilian hiring freeze.

What you’ll do

Plan and conduct investigations of potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity, and public safety.
Apply judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
Create and maintain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
Maintain a level of physical fitness to ensure readiness required to perform law enforcement duties.

Key requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
Must be willing to travel as required.
Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university; preferred fields include computer science, engineering, data science, information technology, or a related field.

Requirements

Experience implementing and administering Azure Key Vault.
Experience automating security processes using PowerShell and REST APIs.
Strong understanding of least privilege, privileged identity security, credential rotation, and privileged access governance.
Experience supporting Windows and Linux server environments.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
Experience integrating security controls into DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
