Job Description

The U.S. Office of the Inspector General, within the Department of Agriculture, seeks a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) to provide information security leadership and oversight that underpins audits, investigations, and reviews. This onsite role in Atlanta, Georgia offers a salary range of $125,776 to $163,514 per year and requires at least one year of specialized federal experience. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on guidance to strengthen the agency's security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, justify, and oversee program funding; monitor expenditures and apply cost-benefit thinking to set priorities.
  • Understand the internal and external political factors that influence the organization’s work.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Direct Deposit is required for federal payments.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • As a condition of employment, you will serve a 1-year probationary period.
  • Subject to a 1-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable; new USDA supervisors must complete all required training before the end of probation.

  • Specialized Experience for GS-14: One full-time year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 in the Federal service, demonstrating extensive knowledge of planning, conducting and reporting on complex audits in accordance with GAGAS, GAAS, and applicable guidance; gathering, analyzing and summarizing data and audit results; writing draft and final audit reports; and identifying issues.
  • Time in grade: Current and former federal employees must have served at the next lower grade (GS-13) for 52 weeks to be eligible for this position.
