Job Description

The Defense Health Agency supports a global medical mission by strengthening how information security is planned, authorized, and assessed across medical networks and facilities. This Supervisory IT Specialist role is a direct-hire, full-time position in Charleston, SC (onsite), with competitive pay and the opportunity to lead accreditation and authorization (A and A) program execution for organizations serving more than 500 hospitals and clinics.

As a senior leader, you will manage day-to-day program operations, oversee risk management and security planning integration for medical programs, and help ensure that security planning and risk management artifacts are developed, approved, and executed to support the DHA enterprise-wide network. The role requires maintaining a Top Secret eligibility determination for the duration of employment and includes a supervisory probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of the accreditation and authorization (A and A) program, including oversight, planning, budgeting, acquisition, and implementation support for worldwide DHA missions.
  • Advise the DHA Risk Management Executive Division Chief for Information Security on security planning and integration activities tied to medical programs in both fixed facilities and theater environments.
  • Manage the program’s day-to-day operations supporting more than 500 hospitals and clinics.
  • Plan and assign work, approve leave, set and adjust short-term priorities, develop performance standards, evaluate work performance, and provide advice and instructions to employees.
  • Manage development and approval of proposed information security plans and RMF artifacts for MHS/DHA information systems and networks.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and execute independent security assessments to identify and manage risk to the DHA enterprise-wide network.
  • Report security issues and weaknesses to influence procurements and implementation of technology to maintain a secure operating environment.
  • Manage and track program elements to ensure commitments align with appropriate elements and remain within budget guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required; the position is subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing, requiring consent to random drug urinalysis testing.
  • One year of specialized experience that includes assisting with developing information security plans to sustain uninterrupted operations, conducting risk assessments, and assisting with planning and assigning work.
  • Specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience demonstrating four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
