Sr. Cyber Security Engineer
Job Description
SecuriGence is seeking a Sr. Cyber Security Engineer to support DoD-aligned security capabilities in Arlington, VA (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Analyze security for hardware components (SoC, MCU, etc.) and low-level operating system elements in consumer devices.
- Provide systems security support to protect information system assets.
- Implement network defense, vulnerability management, and incident response technologies based on client mission needs.
- Assess and review risks; partner with product engineers to design mitigations.
- Develop and execute policies, standards, and procedures.
- Create and deliver security training, drive security awareness, and educate product engineers on relevant technology.
- Research current standard methodologies, trends, threats, vulnerabilities, and technology frameworks.
- Serve as a Splunk subject matter expert supporting engineering and maintenance of multiple clustered instances.
- Implement and maintain security stack components including IDS/IPS, firewalls, SIEM, and host-based security systems.
- Mature existing Splunk instances to strengthen incident detection and insider threat programs.
- Build system configuration baselines using SCAP for both Windows and UNIX/LINUX.
- Engineer event log correlation solutions to support effective customer incident response.
- Conduct incident response actions based on detected events and incidents.
- Validate and develop cybersecurity requirements.
- Develop cybersecurity engineering solutions across different security disciplines.
- Coordinate with functional and technical stakeholders to support engineering tasks.
- Deliver customer reports and other informational products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- 8570 IAT Level 2 Certification required: (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP)
- TS/SCI required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience building and maintaining Splunk instances in a DoD-specific environment.
- Ability to use Splunk or other SIEM tools to correlate events, identify security events/incidents, determine root cause, and support incident response actions with the CIRT team.
- Proficiency in UNIX/LINUX and Windows system administration and configuration.
- Networking proficiency including routing, switching, and subnetting.
- Familiarity with deploying security functions in virtualized environments (VMware and Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with Windows, UNIX/LINUX, and application logs (including database and web server logs).
- Experience implementing and auditing DISA STIG hardening configurations.
- Working knowledge of database and operating system security.
- Understanding of modern security principles, techniques, and protocols.
- Capability to operate in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and coordinating resources to meet scheduled goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: USD 175,200 - 220,000 per year
