Special Agent: Cybersecurity/Technology Expertise
Job Description
Leverage a cybersecurity background to investigate potential federal law violations involving cybersecurity and public safety as an FBI Special Agent. This onsite role in Cincinnati, OH combines investigative work with specialized training and access to advanced technology.
Role Summary
As a Special Agent with technology expertise, you will apply cybersecurity knowledge to support investigations into matters that affect public safety and national security. The position emphasizes critical thinking, adaptability, and collaboration with experienced professionals, supported by specialized training, real-world investigative experience, and cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct investigations of potential violations of federal laws related to cybersecurity and public safety.
- Use judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
- Develop and maintain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain a level of physical fitness to ensure readiness for law enforcement duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
Education
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in computer science, engineering, data science, information technology, or a related field) from a U.S. accredited college or university.
Training and Technology Exposure
The role includes specialized training and investigative experience designed to strengthen troubleshooting and information security capabilities. You will also gain access to advanced technology to support investigation efforts.

Salary and Pay Level
- Pay level: $103,326.00–$133,200.00 (per year)
- Compensation basis: Salary is commensurate with base, locality, and availability pay.
