Overview

As an FBI Special Agent focused on cybersecurity and information technology, you will apply security operations know-how to plan and pursue investigations into federal offenses, cyber incidents, and public safety concerns. The position is based in Indianapolis and requires a transition into federal law enforcement responsibilities under the Bureau’s mission to safeguard the nation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct investigations into potential federal violations, cyber activity, and public safety issues.
  • Apply judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands.
  • Establish and sustain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement partners.
  • Maintain the physical readiness required for law enforcement duties.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Must meet the FBI’s employment eligibility requirements.
  • Must have a master's degree or higher from a U.S. accrediting institution.

Job Details

Location: Indianapolis, IN (onsite). Compensation ranges from USD 103,236 to 133,200 per year, with salary determined by base pay, locality, and availability pay. This is a full-time, onsite role that requires active participation in federal law enforcement duties.

Job Description

In this capacity, you will bring your information security and SIEM experience to directly influence national security operations. The FBI encourages professionals with networking experience, CompTIA certifications, or ethical hacking backgrounds to contribute to protecting the nation from cyberattacks, terrorism, fraud, and evolving threats. The role centers on investigative work that aligns technical acumen with federal enforcement objectives.
