Senior Specialist, Cybersecurity Communications

Aon is investing in stronger cybersecurity awareness through internal communications and change management that helps teams understand risk and respond with confidence. This hybrid role in Chicago, IL partners with Global Cybersecurity Services leaders and communications stakeholders to plan and deliver campaigns, messaging, and incident and crisis preparedness communications that improve engagement and behavior across the organization.

What you’ll do

• Partner with cybersecurity subject matter experts to turn complex technical concepts into clear, concise, actionable communications.
• Lead planning and execution of cybersecurity awareness efforts, including Cybersecurity Awareness Month, phishing awareness initiatives, training promotions, and behavior change programs.
• Create colleague communications across channels such as email, intranet, Viva Engage, newsletters, presentations, and leader communications.
• Participate in cybersecurity intelligence sharing meetings and forums to support both reactive and proactive communications for targeted Aon stakeholders.
• Use business acumen across Aon’s global footprint to help stakeholders and audiences understand cybersecurity priorities and context.
• Coordinate messaging across stakeholder groups to maintain consistent communications, audience alignment, and effective execution.
• Support incident and crisis preparedness by developing messaging templates and response materials for timely, coordinated communications.
• Maintain intranet materials, ensuring alignment with campaigns and adherence to relevant translation processes.
• Measure campaign effectiveness using engagement data and feedback, then identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Collaborate with teams across Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing & Communications to deliver coordinated communication efforts.
• Leverage AI tools to improve productivity, content creation, audience insights, and communications effectiveness.

What you bring

• 4+ years of relevant strategic communication experience, with an emphasis on internal, cyber, or technology communications (global experience preferred).
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts simply and visually.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, including tailoring content for multiple audiences.
• Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and collaboration experience.
• Willingness and ability to handle both strategic and tactical work.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Fluency in AI for communications.
• Flexibility to work outside standard office hours as needed for global coordination and deadlines.

Location and compensation

Chicago, IL (hybrid)
Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (for U.S. applicants; based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois). This role is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base salary.
