Job Description

DeepMind’s Product Security Team owns product security accountability across the full lifecycle, from early design to production operations. In this senior role, you will concentrate on securing DeepMind’s core serving infrastructure and the platform layer that supports frontier AI, including the inference systems that power reliable model delivery.

Working within the serving security space, you will help harden infrastructure components, create and maintain threat models for inference workloads, and embed secure-by-default practices directly into deployment pipelines and serving stacks. Operational security is central to the work, with participation in an operational security rotation that includes on-call duties.

What you’ll do

  • Assess and harden GDM’s core serving infrastructure, including Beyond, Agency, AI Studio APIs, and the associated inference pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain threat models for the GDM serving layers and inference workloads, including attack vectors relevant to frontier AI such as prompt injection mitigation, tool-calling hardening, multi-tenant data boundary protection, and API surface security.
  • Create and maintain secure-by-default libraries, reference architectures, and deployment templates that integrate infrastructure security into GDM’s deployment pipelines and serving stacks.
  • Participate in the team’s operational security rotation and help cover on-call.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in security engineering, platform security, infrastructure hardening, network protocols, or systems security architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in security operations, such as operational security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability triage, rotational on-call duty, or threat hunting.
  • 5+ years of coding experience in one or more systems programming languages, such as C or C++.

Technologies

  • C
  • C++

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience securing large-scale distributed serving infrastructure, core API development, and multi-tenant data architectures.
  • Proven experience performing variant analysis, building security mitigations, and responding to high-severity infrastructure incidents in production.
  • Expertise in workload isolation, Linux kernel security, TPU/GPU architecture security, or hardware-backed root-of-trust models.
  • Technical understanding of frontier AI security challenges, including prompt injection containment, secure agentic tool execution, and inference memory safety.

Location and compensation

  • Location: Mountain View, CA, USA; New York, NY, USA (hybrid)
  • Salary: USD 207,000 - 300,000 per year
  • Comp: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Benefits information is available via Google.

Team and scope

The GDM Product Security Team provides embedded, specialized security expertise across infrastructure and product development lifecycles, serving as the single point of accountability for DeepMind’s product security posture. In this role, you will focus on proactive hardening of serving components, enforcing multi-tenancy data protection, designing OS/hardware workload isolation, and building secure-by-default pathways for model serving. You will also support core security operations activities, including vulnerability triage, threat modeling, incident escalation, and rotational on-call coverage, to help maintain DeepMind’s frontier AI platform.
