Job Description

Google Cloud Security Engineering is hiring a Senior Information Security Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA (onsite). In this role, you will design and implement software and systems with strong security standards, while raising the level of assurance across Cloud infrastructure. You will also support security incident response by applying rigorous security assessments, code reviews, vulnerability testing, and technical risk judgment.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct security assessments of Cloud security and vulnerability reports to evaluate risk and impact, and ensure timely, appropriate mitigations with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multiple cross-functional efforts, escalations, and priorities at the same time.
  • Work through complex technical problems involving independent components that still affect each other.
  • Act as a go-to resource across broad security domains, including understanding how threats move between systems and services.
  • Build and maintain working relationships across Google, including legal, engineering, and communications teams.
  • Investigate potential impact to Google Cloud and customers to determine whether new detection, or compromise notifications, are needed.
  • Drive positive security change aligned to business objectives, partnering with teams to strengthen overall security capabilities.
  • Use strong judgment to balance security and business needs within owned areas, considering both risk and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
  • 5 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
  • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • 8 years of experience with vulnerability identification, assessment, and management.
  • Technical background including experience in security operations, systems administration, digital forensics, security engineering, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ability to remain composed and level-headed during security escalations and lead teams toward timely resolution.
  • Experience leading teams through ambiguous situations using influence without authority.
  • Strong writing skills, and the ability to present to external and internal audiences.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex risks to stakeholders at all levels with data-driven clarity.

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary: US $174,000 - $252,000 (USD) per year
