Senior Cybersecurity Consultant

The Senior Cybersecurity Consultant role at Cinter Career supports global enterprise clients with executive-level advisory services. The position blends cybersecurity strategy, governance, and architecture work with hands-on program leadership, including virtual CISO engagement support and transformation guidance across multiple domains. This onsite role is based in New York, NY, with collaboration across teams in the U.S. and Japan.

Role summary

As a senior advisor, you will lead multi-quarter engagements for strategic accounts, deliver executive-ready recommendations, and help define target-state security architectures. The work includes framework readiness assessments and gap analysis, the creation of three-year security roadmaps aligned to business objectives and risk appetite, and advisory support following incidents to improve future outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi-quarter advisory engagements for strategic accounts, developing cybersecurity strategies, governance frameworks, and three-year security roadmaps aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Perform readiness assessments and gap analyses against major frameworks, translating findings into actionable remediation plans.
• Act as a Virtual CISO (vCISO) for organizations without a dedicated security executive, including board meeting representation, executive risk decision support, and annual program reviews.
• Define target-state security architectures across identity, network, endpoint, cloud, and data security domains.
• Align security architecture decisions with IT modernization strategies and managed security service offerings.
• Provide post-incident advisory support, including root-cause analysis facilitation, executive communications, guidance on regulatory notifications, and program improvement recommendations.
• Maintain long-term relationships with senior customer stakeholders and serve as the primary strategic advisor for assigned accounts.
• Coordinate with pre-sales, delivery, account management, and customer success teams to support successful execution and customer outcomes.
• Contribute to advisory methodologies, intellectual property development, and cybersecurity service innovation.
• Mentor junior consultants and pre-sales engineers on consulting best practices and customer engagement strategies.
• Collaborate closely with teams in the U.S. and Japan to leverage global expertise, threat intelligence, and customer relationships.

Frameworks and focus areas

• Assess readiness and gaps against: NIST CSF 2.0, CRI Profile v2.1, NYDFS Part 500, HIPAA, CMMC, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
• Practical coverage also includes working knowledge of: NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002, CRI Profile, NYDFS Part 500, HIPAA Security Rule, CMMC, and CIS Controls.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information risk management, or related advisory roles.
• 5+ years in a senior consulting, advisory, or vCISO capacity.
• Experience leading long-term advisory engagements with executive stakeholders, including CIOs, CISOs, Boards of Directors, and Audit Committees.
• Business-level Japanese proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Excellent executive-level communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-focused recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• One or more senior-level certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or equivalent.

Technical knowledge

• Security architecture understanding across: IAM, SSO, MFA, SASE, ZTNA, firewalls, EDR, MDM.
• Cloud and productivity tooling including: AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
• Data security capabilities including DLP, DSPM, and SSPM.
