Job Description

Security Engineer II on the HealthSec AI team at Amazon, onsite in Seattle, WA, focusing on securing GenAI applications and delivering AI powered security tooling across Amazon Health Services, including AI-SDLC hardening and HIPAA-compliant practices.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead proactive security controls for AHS AI apps, including GenAI chatbots, agentic systems, and LLM powered tools
  • Design and implement AI-SDLC security controls to ensure secure AI development by default for AHS builders
  • Assess AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, model abuse, data exfiltration, and unauthorized tool invocation at scale, and drive mitigations
  • Build or promote AI-powered security tooling (automated threat modeling, code scanning, security test generation) to scale security across AHS
  • Promote AI security guardrails, testing frameworks, and monitoring across AHS GenAI applications
  • Partner with AHS builder teams to embed security guidance into AI development workflows, reducing late-stage findings
  • Create and maintain security documentation including AI threat models, risk assessments, and secure AI development guidelines
  • Support AI security incident investigations related to prompt injection and model misuse

Requirements

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .NET, C++ or other object-oriented languages
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or IT security experience
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies
  • Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent
  • Knowledge of common AI security risks such as prompt injection, data poisoning, model extraction, and insecure tool use

About the Team

The HealthSec AI team secures Amazon's healthcare AI applications and builds AI-powered security tooling to scale protection across AHS. We work across two domains: Security for AI (securing GenAI applications and the AI-SDLC) and AI for Security (building AI tools that automate security guidance, testing, and workflows).
