Security Engineer II - Red Team

Join Microsoft’s Red Team (MRT) in Redmond, WA (onsite) to run adversary emulation and help improve security coverage across Azure and Microsoft services.

Responsibilities

• Discover and exploit vulnerabilities end-to-end to evaluate the security posture of services
• Execute Red Team operations using real-world adversarial tactics and techniques to validate detection, investigation, and response readiness for production services
• Partner across teams and clearly communicate risk impact to advocate for security changes across the company
• Analyze diverse data sources, including source code, to uncover potential security weaknesses and breach points within Microsoft’s infrastructure
• Work with Blue Teams to improve readiness and deliver solutions that support defenders and customers
• Review simulated adversary tactics and communications to enhance response tactics and threat intelligence
• Use Artificial Intelligence and agentic approaches to support vulnerability discovery and threat emulation

Requirements

• Education and experience combination:
  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in security or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years experience in security or related field
  • OR equivalent experience
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in one or more of the following: identifying security vulnerabilities, cybersecurity or related discipline, or a software engineering-related field
