Security Analyst
Job Description
The Loudoun County Government Office of Emergency Management, Safety & Security seeks a customer service-oriented Security Analyst to support day-to-day surveillance, intelligence monitoring, and security reporting for county facilities and operations.
Location and Employment Details
- Location: Ashburn, VA (onsite)
- Compensation: USD 69,287 - 121,253 per yearly
- Experience: 3+ years required
- Education: Associate's degree
Responsibilities
- Manage electronic access control systems for county facilities.
- Monitor alarms, alerts, and notifications, and track operational events.
- Monitor live security camera feeds across county facilities and identify suspicious activity, unauthorized access attempts, or abnormal patterns in facility operations.
- Maintain detailed incident logs and produce security reports.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize security-related information to support intelligence briefings.
- Continuously monitor social media platforms, news outlets, blogs, forums, and public safety channels for emerging threats and situational updates.
- Monitor weather, natural hazard alerts, and infrastructure disruption reports from public sources.
- Collaborate with security, law enforcement, and other County and regional partners.
- Perform routine systems checks, troubleshoot security systems, and coordinate with technical support for maintenance and repairs.
- Participate in training, exercises, and after-action reviews to improve situational awareness, response effectiveness, and overall security posture.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- Associate's degree with coursework in one or more of the following: Intelligence and Data Analytics, Homeland Security, Criminology, Emergency Management, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience in intelligence and/or security.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience monitoring security systems, including cameras and access control tools.
- Experience in Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS, private security, and/or Military roles.
- Skill working with computers and County/Department software, including Oracle, Microsoft Office products, mapping tools, dashboards, and software used in intelligence analysis.
