Job Description

Principal Cybersecurity Systems Engineer role in Oklahoma City focuses on vulnerability assessment, automation of cybersecurity processes, and guiding security architecture across the system development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Address complex cybersecurity challenges across systems and software domains.
  • Review software static code analysis results to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Perform Cybersecurity Impact Appraisals and Evaluations for hardware and software projects.
  • Create and maintain artifacts required for Air Force authorization decisions.
  • Conduct system vulnerability scans using ACAS and STIG-based tooling.
  • Carry out manual STIG and SRG verifications on diverse equipment, collecting and evaluating findings.
  • Conduct system categorization based on impact analysis.
  • Develop RMF package artifacts including System Security Plan, Continuous Monitoring Plan, Risk Assessment Report, Security Control Traceability Matrix, and Plan of Actions & Milestones.
  • Collaborate on systems engineering events throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events across the lifecycle (PDR, CDR, SRR, TRR).
  • Implement and assess verification and validation methods for cybersecurity system requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a Master's in STEM with at least 3 years, or a PhD with at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance or higher (BI within last 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a timeframe aligned to business needs.
  • Experience performing cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and evaluations.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NSS/CSA PM 9-12, and JSIG.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program cleared with program access language understood.
  • Certifications such as CSSLP, CISSP, CEH, or Security+.
  • Foundational knowledge of core systems engineering principles including requirements development, allocation, and traceability.
  • Experience with verification and validation planning and execution.
  • Experience with engineering change processes.
  • Experience performing cybersecurity impact assessments during design changes, capability upgrades, or baseline reviews.
  • Experience performing system vulnerability scans using ACAS and automated STIG tools.
  • Networking knowledge including router/switch configurations, troubleshooting, and security assessments.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.

Salary

  • Primary level salary range: $102,600.00 – $153,800.00
  • Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long term incentives depending on role and market conditions

Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to assess software and hardware for vulnerabilities, develop cybersecurity automation, and influence security layout and tool development.
