Job Description

State Farm is seeking an experienced Lead AWS Security Engineer to design, implement, and refine cloud security detections and tooling. This role collaborates with product teams to secure public cloud adoption and participates in on-call rotations to maintain security resilience.

Overview

Location: Richardson, TX with a hybrid work model. Salary: USD 107,000 to 163,000 per year. Minimum experience: 6 years in AWS focused application or infrastructure development and support. The position centers on building and maintaining cloud security detections and tooling while coordinating with cross-functional teams to secure cloud deployments and respond to incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance a Python based detection tool deployed in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with enterprise technical teams to develop and test cloud based detection rules.
  • Research new AWS services to identify opportunities for new detection rules.
  • Communicate changes to cloud based vulnerability management, including new detections and expanded monitoring scope.
  • Participate in rotating on-call assignments to support security operations.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in application and/or infrastructure development and support within AWS.
  • Experience with development tooling and practices such as Python, GitLab, and Terraform.
  • Knowledge of information security industry standards and practices.
  • Current understanding of threats and trends impacting the information security landscape.
  • Proven problem solving orientation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative agile team environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment.

Hybrid work arrangement

Eligible candidates must reside within a 180 mile radius of a hub location and should plan to split time between remote work and in-office presence as part of the hybrid environment.
