AWS Cloud Security Engineer

UltraViolet Cyber is supporting a Federal customer team by bringing in a Senior Security Tooling Engineer focused on securing AWS environments with practical, measurable tooling. This onsite role in Springfield, VA centers on assessing enterprise and AWS-native security capabilities, validating coverage through security testing, and translating findings into actionable improvements to configurations and integrations.

Role Overview

In this position, you will evaluate the effectiveness, configuration, and integration of security tools across enterprise platforms and AWS-native services. The work includes security tool assessments, configuration reviews against established benchmarks, validation through vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, and recommendations to enhance tooling effectiveness and visibility.

Responsibilities

• Assess enterprise security tools including SIEM platforms
• Assess enterprise security tools including IDS/IPS solutions
• Assess enterprise security tools including Vulnerability management systems
• Evaluate AWS-native security services including AWS GuardDuty
• Evaluate AWS-native security services including AWS Macie
• Evaluate AWS-native security services including AWS Inspector
• Conduct configuration reviews against CIS Benchmarks
• Conduct configuration reviews against AWS Well-Architected Framework
• Review logging and monitoring configurations to ensure adequate coverage and visibility
• Support or perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to validate tool effectiveness
• Analyze tool integration and data flow between systems
• Identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for optimization
• Provide recommendations to improve tooling effectiveness and coverage

Requirements

• 7+ years hands-on experience with security tools and AWS security services
• Experience with AWS security services and cloud security tooling
• Experience performing tool assessments, audits, or implementations
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• CompTIA Security+ (baseline, if needed)
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty
• Splunk Certified Architect / Power User
• Microsoft SC-200 or equivalent
• OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional)
• CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
• Active TS/SCI with SCI Polygraph (or eligible)

Compensation and Location

• Location: Springfield, VA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 150,000 - 180,000 per year
