Junior Cybersecurity Engineer
Job Description
Computer Aid, Inc. is hiring a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to support an onsite, agent-driven build-out focused on triage and response automation. In this 12-month+ contract role in Long Beach, CA, you will work under the direction of Senior Cybersecurity Engineer(s) while collaborating with Cyber Analysts to translate real triage patterns into repeatable workflows.
This position emphasizes hands-on engineering work: implementing and iterating automation workflows, connecting them to the security stack, and helping ensure performance in production through monitoring and clear documentation.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist in building agent-driven triage and response automation under the direction of Senior Security Engineers
- Implement, test, and iterate automation workflows and playbooks that convert detection content into consistent triage and response actions
- Write and maintain integration code that links automation workflows to the security stack, including SIEM, EDR, and related tooling used by Engineering
- Help instrument and monitor automation performance in production, including tracking false positives, missed cases, and brittle logic before they become operational issues
- Document workflow logic, decision points, and known limitations so senior engineers and analysts can clearly understand what automation is doing
- Collaborate with Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automating them
Requirements
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and comfort writing and debugging production code, ideally in Python or Go (or a similar scripting-friendly language)
- Comfort with APIs, workflow or automation frameworks, and integrating disparate systems
- Some exposure to SOC concepts, log or alert data, or prior coursework/projects involving security operations
- Genuine interest in security operations, with the role positioned as an entry-level build-and-learn seat
- Ability to work well under senior technical direction, rather than operating independently
