Job Description

This contract role supports the build-out of agent-driven triage and response automation within a security operations environment under Senior Cybersecurity Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with agent-driven triage and response automation build-out under direction from Senior Security Engineers
  • Implement, test, and iterate on automation workflows and playbooks that convert detection content into consistent triage and response actions
  • Write and maintain integration code that connects automation workflows to the security stack, including SIEM, EDR, and other tooling used by Engineering
  • Help instrument and monitor automation performance in production, including tracking false positives, missed cases, and brittle logic before they become operational issues
  • Document workflow logic, decision points, and known limitations clearly so senior engineers and analysts can understand what the automation is doing
  • Partner with Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automating them

Requirements

  • Genuine interest in security operations, with a mindset aligned to an entry level engineer focused on building in this area
  • Ability to work effectively under senior technical direction; described as a build-and-learn position rather than a solo role
  • Clear written communication
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals, including comfort writing and debugging production code (ideally Python or Go / Golang or a similar scripting-friendly language)
  • Comfort with APIs, workflow/automation frameworks, and integrating disparate systems
  • Some exposure to SOC concepts, log/alert data, or prior coursework/projects touching security operations is a plus

Compensation

  • Pay rate (C2C): $90 - $100 per hour
