Responsibilities
- Analyzes, assesses, and provides user access to the Local Area Network (LAN) / Wireless LAN (WLAN) via addition of hardware or reconfiguring existing hardware.
- Initiates actions to optimize LAN/WLAN performance through system fine tuning and hardware/software enhancements.
- Develops requirements to facilitate end user LAN/WLAN interfaces with medical systems and applications.
- Collaborates with staff, System Administrators, MTF Network Staff, and Cyber Security personnel to ensure the security of systems, networks, and devices in the DHAs LAN/WLAN Accreditation.
- Conducts periodic network scanning to identify compliant and non-compliant systems on the network.
- Provides reports to higher echelons, Cyber Security, and the MTFs.
- Develops, procures, and deploys new network technologies in support of LAN/WLAN hardware and software life cycle management.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Employee may be required to travel by commercial air up to 10% of the time.
- This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).
- In addition to the Information Assurance baseline certification, selectee must obtain appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certification for operating system or security related tools/devices supported.
- Alternate work schedule is not authorized. Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- This is an Information Assurance Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technical (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of entrance on duty.
- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of
