IT Security Analyst

Tacoma Power’s Utility Technology Services (UTS) is seeking an IT Security Analyst to strengthen cybersecurity operations across enterprise and operational technology environments. This onsite role supports continuous protection through security monitoring, threat analysis, investigation, and incident response, with work spanning SIEM and endpoint tooling as well as compliance-related activities.

Salary: USD 105,643 - 148,740 per year

Role Overview

In this position, you will help maintain day-to-day security visibility, respond to emerging threats, and contribute to ongoing risk reduction. The work includes coordinating incident response tasks, improving detection and response processes, and supporting compliance documentation tied to NERC CIP.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SIEM dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and log integrations while monitoring security events and investigating anomalies using SIEM, EDR, and network security tools.
• Perform proactive threat hunting to identify malicious activity, security misconfigurations, and indicators of compromise for earlier detection and mitigation.
• Support cybersecurity incident response, including triage, containment, remediation, documentation, and lessons learned, coordinating with internal teams to validate events and gather forensic data.
• Manage endpoint security agents, including policies, tuning, and detections; review and escalate alerts and assist system owners with remediation efforts.
• Complete assigned NERC CIP activities such as log reviews, evidence gathering, artifact maintenance, secure configuration validation, and compliance documentation and recordkeeping.
• Support vulnerability management activities including scanning, ticketing, validation, and coordination with asset owners to support remediation and reduce risk.
• Contribute to security exception reviews, control recommendations, and risk discussions to support cybersecurity practices and risk management.
• Support onboarding and integration of security tools, identifying opportunities for automation and operational improvements.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a directly related field.
• Experience: 2 years of progressively responsible information technology experience related to the assignment.
• As assigned: Washington State Driver’s License.
• Depending on assignment: ability to pass additional background checks and/or obtain additional certifications, with maintenance thereafter.
• Preferred: CompTIA Security+, ISC2 SSCP, GIAC Security Essentials, or equivalent certification.
