Job Description

This IT Cybersecurity Specialist role, located in Washington, DC (remote) within Departmental Offices, Domestic Finance - Financial Institutions, supports the Treasury Department's function as Sector Risk Management Agency for Financial Services to strengthen the security and resilience of critical infrastructure against physical and cyber threats. The position offers an annual salary in the range of USD 143,913 to 187,093.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with international partners in bilateral and multilateral settings to enhance the security and resilience of the financial services sector.
  • Draft cybersecurity policy memos for senior decision makers that address key issues affecting the financial services sector, recognized as national critical infrastructure.
  • Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert and chair working groups or committees alongside federal and private-sector officials to advance annual work plans and associated analyses.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of the Financial Services Sector Specific Plan to address new technologies, risks, and emerging threats.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status is required.
  • A probationary or trial period applies to new competitive or excepted appointments; performance, conduct, and suitability are evaluated, and automatic conversion to permanent status is not guaranteed.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
  • All new hires must comply with federal ethics laws; reviews of financial or other interests may be conducted to identify real or apparent conflicts with Treasury duties.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine suitability for Federal employment when requested by the agency.
  • Salaries must be paid via Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer to a financial institution of the employee's choosing.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must certify Selective Service registration or exemption.
  • Undergo a Personal Identity Verification process requiring two forms of identification as part of Form I-9; identity and employment eligibility must be verified.
