Job Description

The IT Cybersecurity Specialist role at CMS acts as the Chief Information Security Officer and principal advisor on security policy and technical matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advise leadership and stakeholders on security and privacy laws, regulations, policies, and guidance to maintain system security and compliance while supporting CMS objectives.
  • Provide authoritative direction for the agency information technology security program.
  • Identify, develop, and drive the implementation of cybersecurity and privacy best practices in IT system management.
  • Serve as the Senior Information Security Officer and lead operational activities.
  • Oversee compliance for Authority to Operate (ATO) or Authority to Connect (ATC) processes.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply.
  • Willingness to undergo a background and suitability investigation.

  • Possibility of a one-year probationary period.
  • Documentation for completing the DHS I-9 will be verified through the DHS E-Verify System.
