Job Description
Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (Operating Systems) with US Joint Activities is based at Fort Meade, MD, with a salary range of USD 131,841 - 180,186 per year.
Responsibilities
- Performs ongoing analyses of the design and operation of USCYBERCOM, CNMF, and Hunt Forward Operations cyber systems.
- Collaborates with Hunt Forward Operations teams to execute cyber incident response activities and optimize the use of IT infrastructure assets.
- Member of a Cyber Incident Response Team, delivering capability and infrastructure planning, real-time operational support, and technical guidance.
- Monitors external data sources such as cyber defense vendor sites, CERTs, and Security Focus to stay current on threat conditions.
- Applies IT expertise to assemble complex HFO architecture (servers, networks, and workstations) into transportable kits for deployment at forward operating locations worldwide.
- Aids in evaluating the impact of implementing and maintaining a dedicated cyber defense infrastructure.
- Coordinates with Cyber Defense Analysts to update rules and signatures for intrusion detection/protection systems, antivirus, and content blacklists used by specialized cyber defense applications.
- Contributes significantly across design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and post-implementation evaluation of new cybersecurity capabilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements described in DoDI 1400.25 V3005, Cyber Excepted Service, Employment and Placement.
- Must undergo and successfully complete an initial and periodic Counter-Intelligence Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
- This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI Security clearance.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft.
- In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, this position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months.
- May be recalled to duty, may be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work overtime.
- 1 year specialized experience described below (see Qualifications for details).
- The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid) demonstrating each of the four competencies.
